DFFO '22 Film - No Ghost in the Morgue

As a writer -director, Marilyn brings to the screen characters that are complex and full of humanity, with an emphasis on family stories and dreamlike worlds. Since completing her degree in film studies at Université du Québec à Montréal, she has written and directed three short fiction films, including No Ghost in the Morgue (50+ festivals, Canada’s Top Ten 2022, Academy Award qualifier 2023) and Wanted: Strong Woman (40+ festivals, 7 mentions and awards, Best Director Grand Prize at the Rhode Island International Film Festival). She is currently writing her first fiction feature, Daughter of the Mango Tree, which received support from the TIFF Filmmaker Lab. She is also passionate about television: she is the director of Pa t'mentir, a magazine series that talks about subjects affecting the black community, which won a Gémeaux Prize in 2022. She also directed season 3 of the teen webseries Avec moi, currently streaming on tou.tv and is currently developing scripted projects for television and film.
